Students may take each subject at a higher or lower level. For example, normally our High School programme students take lower-level English.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most common subjects for the Leaving Certificate are shown in the table below:<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr align=\"center\" valign=\"middle\">\n<td colspan=\"3\" align=\"left\" bgcolor=\"#98d5c6\" height=\"50\">\n<p style=\"color: #ffffff; font-weight: bold;\">Core Subjects &#8211; obligatory<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"left\" valign=\"middle\" width=\"33%\" height=\"35\">Maths<\/td>\n<td align=\"left\" valign=\"middle\" width=\"33%\" height=\"35\">English<\/td>\n<td align=\"left\" valign=\"middle\" width=\"33%\" height=\"0\">Irish*<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">*Irish is the original language of spoken over a hundred years ago. Today it is still spoken in some rural areas and remains an official language often heard on television, radio and seen on official government signs and documents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Overseas students are not required to study Irish.
