The well known the quote by Albert Einstein “Time flies when you are having fun” Our students have been making the most of their remaining weeks in Ireland and the weather has been obliging and the sun has been shining! Our two students Mia Marjanovic and Jule Nagel from Rockford went on a camping trip to Glengalough and got to experience the Irish countryside at its best.

Some of our other students rather than the countryside went to the city and saw movies in the Odeon. Did you know the first Odeon cinema was opened in 1928, 94 years ago! They now have grown and have one hundred and twenty cinemas in Ireland and the UK.

On Monday the 9th of May we celebrated Europe day. This was first celebrated in 1964 by the council of Europe and especially in today’s world with so many people struggling and we celebrate Peace and unity in Europe. Europe day tracks back to when the then French Minister of foreign affairs Robert Schuman delivered a shock proposal that the France and Germany two nations with a difficult history would join their steel and coal production.

Do you consider Friday the 13th being an unlucky day? If so, you might be mildly superstitious, just like many of us. Some say that the concept of Friday and the number 13 being unlucky may be linked to stories from the Bible. For example, Judas Iscariot, the apostle who betrayed Jesus, has been labelled “the 13th guest” at the Last Supper. But then in some countries believe it or not Friday 13th is considered a lucky day. The ancient Egyptians thought the number 13 was lucky because they believed that the 13th stage of life was related to the afterlife.

The weeks have flown by, and we are on our last 3 weeks of the programme we hope all our students enjoy and make the most of the remaining time they have left in Ireland.
