So here is one fun activity that I did because maybe like you, I saw on social media and wanted to go to the famous “cliff of Moher”. But then saw that it was on the complete opposite side of Dublin…

THE CLIFF OF HOWTH

Howth is a lovely seaside town located northeast of Dublin and easy accessible with the DART (train). It’s the great place to go to enjoy a little (or long) hike with an incredible view on the sea!

You follow small paths all along that goes up until the border of the cliff. If you want, you can prepare an itinerary here or just walk along the cliff and take in the incredible view of the waves crashing against the rocks.

There is even a small hidden beach down the cliff where the bravest can go for a swim. Believe it or not I saw seals from there!

Oh, and be careful not to fall in the water while walking along the cliff, or to be carried away by the wind! No but seriously; I recommend you to provide good hiking shoes and a windproof-jacket.

The hiking shoes because the paths can be very steep with little and unpredictable rolling rocks that make you slip on your bum if it has rained. Which is most likely to be the case since we are in Ireland. And the windproof-jacket because it can be very, very, windy on the top!

Unfortunately, it’s hard to predict the weather but I still advices you to try to go there when it’s sunny or when the sky is clear in order to enjoy as much as possible.

One more tip: you can download different routes here to prepare your itinerary to not get lost 😉 But I’m sure you won’t.

The Cliff of Howth is a must-visit for stunning views and a bit of adventure. Dress for the weather, stay safe, and enjoy the trails, hidden beaches, and maybe even some seals. A perfect spot to make unforgettable memories!
