A Typical Friday in My Life as an Exchange Student in Dublin-Marie, Belgium

High School Programme Ambassador – Marie, Belgium

Hi, my name is Marie, and I am from Belgium. I am currently in Dublin as an exchange student for four months. I am 15 years old, and I am in fifth year at CBS Westland Row. Today, I’m going to share what a typical Friday in my life looks like.

Trip to Dalkey

I started the day by having breakfast with my host sisters. Afterward, I walked to the station and took the DART to get to school. Fridays are short days, so I finished at 1 p.m. and went straight home to change my clothes. The weather was surprisingly nice for a November day, so we decided to take the DART again and visit Dalkey.

Dalkey is a small town near Dublin. It doesn’t offer much to do, but it was still a lovely place to spend the afternoon. We first bought some lunch at a supermarket, and then we started exploring this beautiful town. The streets were very charming, and after about 15 minutes of walking, we reached the sea. The scenery was stunning; it was one of my favorite seaside towns in Ireland.

We walked along the coast and even climbed a hill to watch a breathtaking sunset. To finish our trip to Dalkey, we stopped at a cozy café for some hot chocolate before heading back home.

Bray Sunset

In the evening, we had dinner at home. Later, we decided to go to the cinema to watch the latest Paddington movie. The film was really good and funny, and we were able to understand everything easily, even without subtitles. When we got back home, I took a shower and went straight to bed.
